Date Of Birth: April 29, 1925
Date Of Death: April 18, 2007
Marjorie M. “Margie” Grimes, 81, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 18th, at Westminster Village North, her home. Friends will remember her as the originator of Costumes by Margie, which she and her husband Jim began in 1970. Originally started as Margie’s Dance Fashion Boutique, Margie personally served and fitted dancers around the country, always adding a unique touch that made each person feel special, while creating original designs for prima ballerinas and showgirls alike. Everybody wanted one of Margie’s costumes! As a long time member of the National Costumer’s Association, many awards were won and honors given for her fantastic creations, and she is still remembered for her unique designs of stage productions, school mascots, the best Santa Clauses in town, and her costume creations in the Purdue Christmas Shows. Even after she and Jim retired in 1991 and formed the corporation “BAU-WOW” (Business As Usual WithOut Work), Margie continued to keep her vision going, helping with Nativity costumes at church, her grandchildren’s shows at school, and the like. She was spunky, sassy, headstrong, and an incredible businesswoman. She is survived by her loving husband of almost 60 years, Jim; their daughters, Stephanie (David) Wright, Shelley (Norman) Hawkins, Shari; son, Jeremy (Kim) Grimes, 6 Grandchildren, and 3+ great-grandchildren. All who were touched by her will miss Margie, and her legacy will continue for years to come. There will be a visitation at Harry Moore Family Mortuary on Friday (TONIGHT) from 5 to 8 p.m. at 82nd and Allisonville Rd., and funeral services will be tomorrow, Saturday, April 20th at 1:00 p.m., at Indian Creek Christian Church, 6430 South Franklin Road with Dr. Gary L. Johnson presiding with visitation one hour prior to service. Memorial contributions may be made to Westminster Village Foundation, 11030 Presbyterian Dr. Indianapolis, Indiana 46236.

Hello Stephanie & the entire family. Read the obit and wish to send my sympathy and prayers. Myself and my 3 foster children (whom I am in the process of adopting) attend Indian Creek and I noticed the service will be there. PTL! I’m proud that Margie was a big part of my life for a long time. It was an honor to be her friend.
